Madge, Richard, Adam and Dave
January 10, 2005
Okay, I’ve got to have my say as well. Adam and Dave crossed a line on Trade Secrets the other day. Their collective podcast came across as two guys who were seriously smarting from being the last to be let in on a joke. It was petty, unnecessary and completely done in the heat of the moment. Madge and Richard have the right to produce whatever media they want, when they want and how they want. I don’t think anyone else took Madge at face value, even if they only heard her on the Daily Source Code. I still enjoy their respective podcasts, but this time both of them were way out of line. Everyone listening could see this happening after Adam spoke to Madge on the phone in his ‘cast. Prince of Pod or not, noone can expect to dictate what is published on a free medium like podcasting, same as noone would expect it to be done to the internet as a whole. You create something (Dave) and you popularise it (Adam) and then you turn it loose. It’s one thing to promote the freedom of being able to play whatever music you want and say what you want, but it’s quite another to turn around a try to deny this to others.
Guys, with all due respect (and there is still some there that is due, the ‘Miami walk’ podcast, for example), you screwed up. Admit it, move on and quit being petty and (I hate saying it) elitist.
