Not so Great Western
March 3, 2005
I haven’t posted for a while as I’ve been recovering from last weekend at A Day On The Green. After being screwed by public transport and missing my train home, I finally made it out to the country. Friday night was spent playing poker, although I didn’t win this time. It was a good night and I was only $20 out of pocket, so that’s not too bad. Saturday was ADOTG. We headed out about 4 and found a decent spot to layout the rug and chairs. Caught up to a few people I hadn’t seen for ages and kind of enjoyed the music. The lineup was Claire Bowditch first, then Tim Rogers followed by The Waifs and closing with Pete Murray. Not my pick, but The Waifs were good. The drinks were shocking to get a hold of; first you queue to buy tickets of various colours, then queue to redeem your tickets for drinks. Why you couldn’t pay for drinks straight out, I still don’t know. So we were on the bottles of Great Western Seppelts chardonnay at $18 a pop, seeing as it was at that winery, and that was all good.
Up until about the last hour.
Then all at once it hit me like a low-altitude ballistic missile. I was schtonkered. It was a struggle to stand up and walking back to the car, along a perfectly flat road, I ended up on my arse (and have the damage to prove it). How I survived the car trip back, I do not know, but after lying on the grass outside, throwing up and arguing with the door about my key, I finally made it inside and collapsed. Nasty stuff. Needless to say, the next morning was not a fun affair at all, nor was the drive back to Melbourne.
It’s taken me until tonight to face alcohol again, and even now, it still isn’t going down that well.
Anyway, more posts coming soon with everything else that’s been happening
