TV boycott

Date March 3, 2005

I’ve boycotted TV for a while. After watching TV last week, I came to realise that it is little more than an insult to my intelligence and a riduculously self-indulgent farce on the part of the networks. The shows that are on are an absolute disgrace and the network’s treatment of the viewer is apalling. I refuse to watch one more cop or forensic show, one more whinging family put in an awkward situation show, one more reality show about people who can’t sing and most of all, I am not going to submit myself to the trauma that is the free-to-air news services. Since last Friday, I’ve only watched an episode of the Simpsons, and even that wasn’t all that amusing. So I’ve cracked it.

Soon after giving up television for mostly the same reasons posted above, I’ve come to realize I have much more time to do things that are important. Shows I miss most didn’t have real characters (Simpons and King of the Hill) This has so much more to do with making fun of the way we live than anything else. Next on my list is consumerism the first stop is do the same to wal*mart as I have done to Television – get it out of my life.See you at the small business down the street (for as long as it’s open)
