Ben Cousins wins the 2005 Brownlow Medal

Another West Coast Eagle, Ben Cousins, has won the Brownlow this year, outrunning his teamate, Daniel Kerr, by a single vote. It was a pretty good count this year, plenty of tension all the way through to the end. The frocks were the usual spectrum from horrid (Merinda Jackson, Emily Cullen and Tania Buckley) to stunning (Lauren O’Shannassy, Amy Pollard and the indomitable Rebecca Twigley) with the usual interestingness in between (Tanya Stewart, Amy Newbold and Big Brother’s Melanie Smerdon). A good night was had at Birra Bella once more, with our own Brownlow count being decided early in the evening (I polled third with a respectable 11 votes).
