The interweb is crashing

Date December 19, 2005

What is it these days? Everyone seems to be offline lately. SixApart is under fire for TypePad being down. Bloglines is bursting at the seams by their own admission and will be offline for a number of hours, although I haven’t seen the plumber for a while. Del.icio.us is reeling from a power outage and now it also seems that StatCounter is on its knees for some reason too. Must be that time of year. Then again, I guess with the new social web exploding, it’s hard for everyone to keep up. Still, you can’t argue when all this is coming to you for free.

  • My mistake, I jumped straight from Blogspot to MovableType, which is free, but included in my hosting and skipped the LJ or TP stage. Still, I think the reliance on the social web is interesting in its reliance on (largely) free, albeit ad-supported in some cases, weblications.
  • Well actually, Typepad does cost money.
