Happy birthday to me
December 20, 2005
Well, there you go. I made it to the ripe old age of 25 – December 20, 2005.
Things I’m proud of: I’ve got a degree (sure it’s in Arts, but what the hell. The world needs more philosophers); I’ve got a job (still, just); I’m single (just, as well); I’ve got my own place to live in the ‘city’ (with three others, but with wireless broadband and TDTV throughout); Je parler francais (un peu); watashi wa nihongo (chotto, taihen!); I’ve got a decent bunch of people around me to share this with – both friends and a remarkably intact family; I own my own .com and four PCs. And I’m drunk on a Monday night.
Things I’m not so proud of: I’ve only got a degree (that’s nothing these days, particularly in Philosophy/English); I need to get a whole lot better at my job; I live in a sharehouse in Melbourne; redact; I speak three languages – all of them badly; I’m out of contact with a stack of people I should really chat to; I own my own .com and four PCs; and I’ve got nothing better to do than drink and smoke too much on a Monday night before fronting up to work tomorrow morning.
I reckon that’s calling it even. Sorry for the rather introspective post, but it’s the alcohol. I’m emotional after the last episode of Queer as Folk and about to pass out. No doubt I’ll check this next year and wonder what the hell I’ve been on…
