Sony BMG crawls into the AU iTMS

Date January 19, 2006

“We’re delighted to join the iTunes Music Store in Australia … there is a great opportunity for digital music to explode in 2006 and we look forward to a long and fruitful relationship with iTunes.”

-Denis Handlin, Chairman and CEO, Sony BMG Australia

You, sir, are a tool. 2005 was also a year in which digital music exploded, particularly in Australia with the opening of the iTMS. Now you have missed the initial rush, annoyed customers, annoyed artists, annoyed the digital music proponents and for what? The tracks will still sell for $1.69, exactly the same as is being charged for every other labels’ tracks. Well, at least people can now buy their precious Shannon Noll tracks…

Welcome to the party, Sony BMG, unfashionably late as usual.
