Nintendo Wii?? WiiTF?

So the Nintendo Revolution has a new name. It’s going to be the Nintendo Wii. Not as in ‘why’, but as in ‘we’. This is just bizarre. It’s not an intuitive name, it doesn’t particularly mean anything, it’s too close to looking like wifi for people not to automatically say ‘why’, insert complaint here, etc. After hearing about this, I’ve got to think that they were on the money with the simple name of Revolution. The jokes are already coming thick and fast (starting with: Mummm, I really need a Wii…).

I’m going to see if this grows on me, but I think that this is not the best move that the big N could have made here. Of course, when it comes out and the new controller gets put to good use, chances are it could be called the Nintendo Bertha and it will still rock.
