Windows Live Writer (Beta… of course)
August 14, 2006
Wow, this isn’t bad. Microsoft have just released the beta version of their desktop blogging tool, Windows Live Writer (which is where this post is coming from).
I’m still yet to figure out the ‘Live’ moniker that M$ is slapping on everything though. I thought it was just for their online services, but this is a desktop install. Who knows. All I’m really interested in is the fact that this seems like another good product that they’ve released. Microsoft is really starting to tick my boxes lately.
Configuration was dead simple, just enter the blog address (raduza.com) and my MT login info and it’s all set. I can even insert wrapped pictures (although I’m not sure how it’s going to get to my server yet), links and apparently, maps.
So far, so good. This may be my blogging preference on my Vista beta install, but for my other XP installs, Performancing still wins hands down as my blogging preference.
edit: interesting… WLW created a new folder on my server for the images (image and a thumbnail), rather than FTP them where I would like. Not very nice, particularly as it didn’t ask, but it would make things much easier if it were the only tool I used.
