Death by kite

Every year, this story amazes me. I can’t remember how many people died in the last few years, but the kite-flying at this year’s spring festival in Pakistan has claimed 11 lives. These were mainly due to sharpened kite strings and strings coated in ground glass, in addition to gunfire and people falling off roofs.

I’ll gamble on a lot of things, but kite-dueling with ground glass in the midst of gunfire? I don’t think so somehow…
