Best WordPress theme tutorial

Date January 14, 2008

Since moving to WordPress late last year, I’ve been interested in how it all works, how the themes fit together and basically what makes it tick. I’ve started learning a bit of PHP, dusting off some old HTML skills and tried attacking CSS again. However, even after hacking apart a few themes and plugins, not a lot of it was sticking.

That was until I came across Small Potato’s brilliant WordPress theme tutorial at WPDesigner.com. I worked through all the lessons in about two days and learnt more about WordPress, themes and CSS in that time than in the last five years. If he had a PayPal tipjar on the site, I would definitely have thrown in a few dollars.

If you have any interest in WordPress or blogging themes, this is one site you cannot miss. Even for dead basic beginners, the site will leave anyone able to put a basic theme together, and more importantly, understand how they did it.
